Square Enix has not announced a specific release date details yet for “Final Fantasy VII: Remake.” But, fans can distract themselves for a while as the original title will be available on Nintendo Switch very soon.

Nintendo, recently, confirmed that the original title of “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” has a Nintendo Switch port coming. Fans also took note that the promo video came out on the same day as the original game’s release date, Jan. 31, in 1997.

The trailer also included a preview of “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” on Nintendo Switch, and it has since been available for purchase. Meanwhile, Nintendo decided to hold off on the “Final Fantasy VII” launch on Switch. But, it will certainly happen this year, and some reports are hoping the wait will be over within the first half of 2019.

Note that the port arriving in Nintendo Switch this year is not “Final Fantasy VII: Remake.” In earlier reports from EconoTimes, it was recalled that “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” is way more than just a remaster.

Rumors about “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” was already circulating online even before it was officially announced in 2015. Game director Tetsuya Nomura later admitted that the announcement was made too early.

Speaking to Multiplayer (translations courtesy of KH Insider), Nomura admitted: “Deciding when to announce your game to the public is always difficult. … But in our case, we receive pressure from the fans even when we do not announce anything.” Nomura, speaking about “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” and “Kingdom Hearts 3,” added that in-development games fall “victims of rumors and leaks” making it hard to keep a major project on a low-profile.

“The same thing happened with [‘Final Fantasy VII: Remake]. I am well aware of the fact that we announced it too early, but even in the industry, word was beginning to spread that we were working on the game, so we just decided not to keep it more secret and officially reveal it,” Nomura further explained.
