Fiserv, Inc. reported a $5.94 billion third-quarter net loss attributable to the company after recording a $6.45 billion noncash goodwill charge. Organic revenue was unchanged from a year earlier.

Fiserv linked the impairment to a trigger event associated with sustained declines in its share price and market capitalization. Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 fell 1% from a year earlier to $5.20 billion. The company posted a GAAP diluted loss per share of $11.17, compared with earnings of $1.46 per share in the third quarter of 2025.

Adjusted earnings per share fell to $1.75 from $2.04. Financial Solutions’ 2% organic revenue growth offset a 2% decline in Merchant Solutions, leaving the companywide measure unchanged.

Fiserv furnished its earnings release with a Nov. 3 Form 8-K. The SEC filing index lists 14 documents and identifies Item 2.02, “Results of Operations and Financial Condition,” and Item 9.01, “Financial Statements and Exhibits.”

The company maintained its 2026 forecast for organic revenue, ranging from a 1% decline to no change, and adjusted earnings per share of $7.20 to $7.40. Following a portfolio review that identified additional operational efficiencies, Fiserv raised Project Elevate’s projected savings to $1 billion from $500 million. It expects to repurchase $500 million in common stock in the fourth quarter.
