The Fannin County Emergency Management Agency said floodwater continued to isolate residents in parts of McCaysville, as McCaysville Police Chief Michael Earley reported more than 30 overnight rescues.

Earley said rushing water hampered boat operations; in some places, it stood above home rooftops. The National Weather Service (NWS) reported three to five inches (8 to 13 centimeters) of rain in McCaysville.

Copperhill, Tennessee, sits across the Toccoa River from McCaysville, which has about 1,000 residents. The agency said several people remained stranded at locations responders could not safely enter. Its swift-water teams had also evacuated multiple residents.

The agency warned on social media that flood danger could persist after rainfall stopped. It said conditions could worsen and described the floodwaters as “extremely dangerous.” The agency had not specified how many people were affected or whether anyone was injured.
