BOSTON, April 20, 2018 -- Flywire executives and clients will contribute to three different presentations and panel sessions at next week’s 32nd annual National College & University Bursars SFS Conference in Savannah Georgia. The event, conducted by the Professional Development Group (PDG), takes place April 22-25 at the Hyatt Regency Savannah.
The Bursars Conference brings together higher education professionals from over 200 private, public, and proprietary colleges, universities, trade and technical schools from throughout the U.S. to network and discuss the latest operational, technology, and financial trends. Participating exhibitors include billing servicers, tuition management firms, software houses, hardware companies, credit card companies, e-commerce companies and alternative loan providers.
Flywire will be part of three different sessions at the event this year:
- Generation Z: The World Really is Flat
Monday April 23rd at 11:15-12:15pm
Presenters: Judith Flink and David King, OnPlanU by Flywire
Generation Z (Gen Z) is at our doorstep, and as universities get ready to welcome the Class of 2022, the gap between financial aid and tuition and fees continues to expand. In most cases students don’t realize the gap until the traditional payment plan enrollment period has closed. Oftentimes, they find themselves without the financial support needed to cover their academic expenses and with limited options. Many students must drop out due to lack of funding. These situations are often preventable with proactive communication that enables students to keep different options open. This session will provide attendees with effective strategies for communicating with Gen Z – both domestically and internationally; discuss the vital role technology plays in the lives of Gen Z; and the financial obstacles many need to overcome to complete a four-year degree. Monday April 23rd at 2:45-3:45pm
Presenters: Matt Schaefer, Indiana University; Tom Metcalf, Flywire
The continued globalization of the local campus brings with it unique challenges. Sending or receiving money internationally can add to the daily stress on your institution’s staff, and create a negative experience for students. Complexities related to receiving international payments include: growth and changes to international student demographics, increased fraudulent activity, and shifting policies at home and abroad. Join our speakers for a mix of informative content and interactive dialogue designed to help you see developing trends and emerging international payment options. Tuesday April 24 at 9:00-10:00am
Presenters: Betsy Burton-Strunk, BankMobile Disbursements; Judith Flink and David King, OnPlanU by Flywire; Tom Metcalf, Flywire
The dramatic reduction in higher ed funding, coupled with the continued decline of financial aid purchasing power, has made it essential that higher ed institutions reduce expenses while gaining efficiencies. Likewise, there is a call to improve student service and retention rates with the next generation of students in mind. This case study presentation looks at how Chicago State University reversed years of declining enrollments and strained finances by leveraging emerging technologies to help improve student satisfaction, increase cost effectiveness, and gain internal efficiencies in its business office. Hear how the institution provides a blended service model targeting the next generation of students and families. More details - https://www.prodev.com/bursars-agenda/#power-partnership.
