The popularity of the “Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma” franchise convinces fans that the release of “Food Wars” season 4 or the Fourth Plate will happen shortly. This is even though there are no solid updates about its production since the Third Plate season concluded in 2018.

It is also important to note that the anime series has, so far, had a consistent release date cycle for its first three seasons. This is why most fans are expecting “Food Wars” season 4 to air within this year. Some speculate it could be a mid-year premiere while others expect the anime series to return in late 2019.

Obviously, there is no official trailer for “Food Wars” season 4 yet. Most anime producers reveal teasers several months before the actual premiere. So if the series in question will be released in the middle of 2019, the first trailer should drop anytime soon.

Aside from the release date, fans are still uncertain of the episode count for “Food Wars” season 4. A previous report from Monsters & Critics seems to suggest that the number of available manga chapters at the moment might mean Fourth Plate could only be a single-cour run. This means it will most likely have just 10-13 episodes.

Another clear hint that “Food Wars” season 4 will happen is the way the preceding season ended. The Third Plate concluded after the 1st Bout of the Rebels vs. Central Régiment de Cuisine. It only makes sense that the Promotion Exams arc continues and get a proper ending in the anime series.

Promotions Exam arc is one of the most important storylines in the franchise, and it will most likely conclude in “Food Wars” season 4 even if it will only have a single-cour run. Note that the current Régiment de Cuisine will also lead to major victories for the Rebels to boost their reputation in the Totsuki Culinary Academy.
