On Sunday, Means framed his criticism of Trump’s direction around what he sees as a gap between the president’s current course and his campaign commitments.
“President Trump has been subverted by people that are beholden to special interests,” Means said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.” He argued Trump’s current course no longer reflected the platform presented to voters.
Means resigned last month from a senior White House advisory post under Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. His work focused on food policy, and he was a prominent advocate in the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, according to EconoTimes’ earlier report on his resignation.
That report, citing the Associated Press, described friction over the food agenda. AP reported that some senior officials worried tougher proposals could damage relations with major food companies. The CBS account did not identify the people or organizations Means was referring to.
