Fractal Analytics Limited shares gained 10.15% on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on Oct. 21, but their ₹785.90 close remained about 12.7% below the ₹900 initial public offering price.
The stock rose ₹72.45 from its previous close of ₹713.45. It opened at ₹713.40 and reached ₹828.70 before retreating below ₹800 by the end of the session. The exchange was closed Oct. 20 for Dussehra, making Oct. 19 the previous trading day.
Mint described a gain of more than 6% in an intraday report that recorded a then-high of ₹763.45. That snapshot preceded the higher peak and 10.15% closing gain shown in the full-session figures.
Fractal's prospectus priced the shares at ₹900 each, and they began trading Feb. 16. Despite the Oct. 21 advance, the closing share price remained below what investors paid in the initial sale.
Fractal Chief Financial Officer Shilpa Kedia, who also serves as group CFO, began work Oct. 19. The board approved her appointment Aug. 31. Fractal said she would oversee its finances and help set investment priorities for research, platforms and products.
Fractal also said Kedia would help determine how to price its artificial intelligence offerings and support profitable growth. She previously was CFO of Johnson & Johnson's India Medical Devices & Technology business and held leadership positions at Hindustan Unilever, according to the company's filing.
Gaurav Garg, head of research at Lemonn, told Mint he viewed the rise as a technical recovery. He cited a sustained move above ₹800 as a sign of a change in the stock's trend and put support at ₹675. The shares crossed ₹800 during the session but closed below it.
Fractal's board is scheduled to consider unaudited results for the quarter and half year ended Sept. 30 at a Nov. 3 meeting. The company has scheduled an earnings call for Nov. 4.
