With a Yellow vests mobilization called for Saturday, Oct. 24, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu met party leaders Thursday, Oct. 22; France 24 said the talks aimed to prevent potential violence at upcoming demonstrations.

The broadcaster placed the meeting after unrest across France over the previous weekend. Earlier EconoTimes coverage said Lecornu was scheduled to review a police deployment plan for the Oct. 24 demonstrations on Oct. 22. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez had instructed prefectures to prepare a large security operation, and Lecornu gave no figure for the planned deployment, the outlet reported.

The Yellow vests mobilization is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24.
