A France 24 segment published Oct. 27 examined the closed-door proceedings of China’s fifth plenum and President Xi Jinping’s influence within the Communist Party, as the four-day meeting continued.

The fifth plenum of the 20th Central Committee is running in Beijing through Oct. 29. At a Sept. 21 Politburo meeting, leaders agreed that committee members would consider a draft decision on strengthening Party self-governance, according to the meeting’s official readout. EconoTimes previously outlined the meeting schedule and self-governance draft.

France 24 identified Jean-François Di Méglio of the Asia Centre think tank as the program’s analyst. The segment’s headline connected the plenum to Xi’s anti-corruption drive, while its description centered on the meeting’s closed-door proceedings and Xi’s authority within the party.
