French Election: Latest poll and voters’ certainty

According to an opinion poll conducted by LeMonde/Cevipof on 14,300 people found that Marine Le Pen could emerge as a winner in the first round of the French election to be held on 23rd April but will be crushed by her opponent Emmanuel Macron by 61-39 margin in the second round that will be held on 7th May. Both of these candidates are tied at 25 percent for the first round, while the former front-runner Francois Fillon whose campaign got derailed by fake jobs scandal will get 17.5 percent of the votes. Support for the leftist candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon increased to 15 percent. The Socialist candidate Benoit Hamon will receive 10 percent of the votes.

The poll also indicates that the voter certainty has increased but is still at a low at 64 percent. Voter certainty is when a voter feels completely sure about the choice he or she is going to make on the Election Day. One point to note here is that Madame Le Pen’s voters are most certain with 82 percent sure of their choice. That number is 75 percent for Mr. Fillon and only 61 percent for Mr. Macron.
