Lots of economic data and events scheduled for today, and some with very high volatility risks associated.

Data released so far:

  • Japan: Flash Nikkei manufacturing PMI declined to 50 in January from in 52.6 prior.
     
  • Australia: Unemployment rate declined by 0.1 percent to 5 percent as the participation rate declined by 0.1 percent to 65.6 percent and as the economy added 21,600 jobs in December.

Upcoming:

  • France: Flash manufacturing PMI report will be released at 8:15 GMT.
     
  • Germany: Flash manufacturing PMI report will be released at 8:30 GMT.
     
  • Italy: Trade balance report will be released at 9:00 GMT.
     
  • Eurozone: Flash PMI reports will be released at 9:00 GMT. ECB will announce rate decision at 12:45 GMT.
     
  • United States: Weekly jobless claims report will be released at 13:30 GMT, followed by flash manufacturing PMI reports at 14:45 GMT. EIA will release weekly natural gas and crude oil inventory report at 15:30 GMT. Senate to hold a vote on a deal to end the government shutdown.
     
  • Japan: CPI inflation report will be released at 23:30 GMT.
