Berachain, a Layer-1 blockchain with an EVM-identical environment, launched its mainnet around February 6, 2025. The total supply of BERA tokens is 500 million, with 48.9% set aside for community engagement, including airdrops and ecosystem development. An airdrop of 79 million BERA tokens (15.8% of total supply) was given to users such as testnet participants and social media contributors.
On February 10, 2025, Berachain unlocked 12.98 million BERA tokens, mainly for the "Request for Broposal" initiative to encourage developers and community contributors, along with 1.25 million for a social airdrop. BERA tokens will start to unlock after a one-year cliff, with 1/6 released initially and the remainder vesting over the next two years. Additionally, 34.5 million BERA tokens were allocated to Bong Bear NFTs, with 25 million unlocked at launch and the rest following the same vesting schedule as insiders.
