‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is set to feature a very different Arya as revealed by a new on-set photograph of Maisie Williams dressed head-to-toe in a fully masculine costume from the North. Meanwhile, the actor who played Joffrey Baratheon in the first few seasons of the show shared his own theory of the ultimate defeat of the White Walkers.
In the latest on-set photograph posted on Bustle, Maisie Williams donned a new costume strikingly similar to other warriors of the North. Williams plays Arya Stark in the highly popular HBO television series based on George R. R. Martin’s series of novels of the same name. Her character is one of the major characters in all of the series’ seasons.
The photograph revealed that Arya had been given clothes that resembled those worn by the men of her house, specifically of her late father Lord Eddard Stark (Sean Bean) and her brother Robb Stark (Richard Madden).
According to another article on the Independent, several other cast members were seen in costume on the filming set in Belfast. Williams’ co-stars Kit Harington, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Bella Ramsey, and Isaac Hempstead-Wright were spotted in the same area. It was speculated that in addition to Williams’ new masculine Northern garb, the incoming season would signal a heavily anticipated Stark reunion.
Meanwhile, Jack Gleeson shared his own thoughts on how the major characters would end up defeating the evil White Walkers in the next season. According to Time.com, the 24-year old Irish actor made an appearance at the recent New York Comic-Con. He gave his own take on the defeat of the White Walkers based on a theory he discussed with a fan.
He said, “This isn’t a spoiler, because I know zero about the show and I literally know nothing about what will happen… [A fan] came up with this theory that they told me… someone’s going to melt down the Iron Throne because it has the Valyrian steel that will overcome the White Walkers. I think that’s kind of a cool idea — the monarchy is literally dissolved.”
Gleeson played the antagonistic Joffrey Baratheon in the first four seasons of the television show before his character was brutally killed off.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is expected to premiere sometime in mid-2017. It is set to consist of seven episodes instead of the usual ten. The series’ renewal was ordered by HBO last April 21, 2016.
