Georgia Power Co. reported a 22% year-over-year increase in third-quarter net income and higher operating revenue, as parent Southern Company cited customer growth and electricity use among factors in its adjusted earnings.
Net income available to common shareholders reached $1.523 billion, compared with $1.248 billion in the same quarter of 2025. Operating revenue rose 18.6% to $4.471 billion from $3.770 billion.
For the first nine months of 2026, net income available to common shareholders totaled $2.931 billion, up 19.5% from $2.452 billion. Operating revenue for the period ended Sept. 30 rose 8.3% to $10.746 billion.
Southern Company said warmer weather, rising electricity use and customer additions, along with results from large commercial and industrial customers and Southern Power, benefited its consolidated adjusted earnings. Higher operating expenses excluding fuel, non-income taxes and a larger share count partly offset Southern Company’s adjusted earnings.
