Mehdi Mohammadi, an adviser to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned Wednesday that a miscalculation could bring a new clash with Israel, while Axios reported Israeli aircraft reached Iran’s frontier.

Mohammadi wrote on Telegram on Wednesday that indicators of a possible Iran-Israel clash were growing. He pointed to what he described as enemy flights over Iraq, activity in territories he called occupied and military preparations meant to allow for different scenarios. He said the opposing side had moved closer to “zero hour.”

According to Mohammadi, Israel still faces intelligence, operational and strategic hurdles: collecting information on targets, keeping access to them and managing a potential conflict’s timing, location and fallout. He cautioned that Israel might act before resolving those problems and said a mistake or impulsive choice could spark a new confrontation.

Axios reported Wednesday that dozens of Israeli fighter jets flew with refueling aircraft on Monday, covering a route of more than 800 miles from Israel to Iran’s border. The report said the route crossed Syrian and Iraqi airspace and was consistent with a potential strike route, citing Israeli and U.S. officials.

Israel knew Iran’s air defenses would detect the planes, U.S. officials told Axios. Some U.S. sources thought Israel may have wanted Iran to fire at the aircraft, creating grounds for Israeli strikes. Other Israeli and U.S. officials described the flight as routine and intended to deter Iran.
