In response to some 20 missiles that were fired towards Israel’s frontline in golem heights on Thursday morning by (allegedly) Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRG), Israel has struck dozen of targets in Syria to deter Iran’s presence in Syrian soil. According to Israel, all the targets belonged to IRG’s Quds force, intelligence sites, logistics headquarter, a military compound, weapons storage sites belonging at Damascus International Airport, intelligence systems and installations, as well as observation, military posts and military hardware in the buffer zone. Four air defense systems were also destroyed, which allegedly belonged to the Syrian government.
According to Israel, this was one of the largest military operations in decades with Israeli planes attacking as many as 50 sites simultaneously. However, the planes reportedly came under heavy anti-aircraft firings.
Israel has previously warned both Syrian President Bashar al Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin against allowing Iranian militia to operate from Syrian soil. After today’s incident, Israel vowed to continue its military operation against what they call an Iranian threat from Syrian soil and promised larger attacks in return to further attacks against the country by Iranian militia and IRG.
