Global geopolitical Series: Israel expels Turkey Consular General in tit for tat response

The relation between Israel and Turkey continues to deteriorate over the recent violence in Gaza strip, where according to reports, as many as 60 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers as protesters tried to illegally cross the border in Gaza strip. Turkey has also been a staunch opponent of the U.S. decision to move its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which officially took place on Monday, earlier this week after President Trump announced the move in last December.

As Turkey, in response to the violence and the opening of U.S. embassy recalled its ambassadors from both Israel and the United States, Israel asked Turkey’s Consular General on Tuesday afternoon to leave the country temporarily. The decision was taken by the Israeli government on Tuesday afternoon in response to Turkey's decision on Monday. The decision was taken to protest Turkey’s decision to expel Israeli ambassador Eitan Naveh Turkey temporarily.

Though countries like Belgium and Ireland summoned Israeli envoy in response to the recent Gaza violence and countries like France, Britain, and Germany criticized the Gaza incident, Turkey’s action so far has been the harshest.
