The release date of the rebooted God of War title is almost here and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Kratos. For those who own a PlayStation 4 Pro or are thinking of buying one specifically for the game, the developers have excellent news to share. It would seem that the title will come with a performance mode on the upgraded console for better gameplay.
As Gamingbolt notes, the upcoming God of War is an absolutely stunning game and might just be one of the most beautiful titles on the PS4. This is saying something when the platform also has the critically-acclaimed Horizon: Zero Dawn as an exclusive game, which is being lauded as one of the most graphically astounding titles in to date.
With God of War being comparable or, as some are saying, surpassing the graphical qualities of Horizon, there is naturally some concern with regards to how well it would perform. In this regard, Sony Santa Monica has made sure to provide fans plenty of opportunities to enjoy the game in exactly the manner they want.
When God of War director Cory Barlog was asked by a fan on Twitter if an upgrade to a PS4 Pro is necessary to enjoy it, the developer replied that it wasn’t needed. However, he also notes that anyone who decides to do so will get some added graphical and performance capabilities courtesy of the Performance Mode.
The mode basically makes use of the extra muscle running under the hood of the Pro, which helps make the smoother. It’s worth pointing out that the difference is only likely to appear when playing on a widescreen TV with 4K resolution and that the effects are basically just about making the graphics more prominent. For everyone else, a normal PS4 will more than suffice to get the full experience.
