Figures published Oct. 20 put the tokenized commodities market at $8.1 billion, with two gold-backed tokens accounting for about 60% and an electricity-linked token ranking second among three named assets.
Justoken JMWH (JMWH), an electricity-linked token issued on the XRP Ledger, was valued at $2.2 billion. Tether Gold (XAUT) stood at $3.1 billion and PAX Gold (PAXG) at $1.8 billion. Together, the two gold tokens were valued at $4.9 billion, while the three assets totaled $7.1 billion, or about 88% of the market.
These digital instruments use blockchain records to track or represent commodities, including gold and silver. The reported market value had risen 120.5% so far this year. That increase does not establish an equivalent inflow of new investment: changes in token prices or supply can also move the total.
