Gold and Bitcoin (BTC) occupied the bottom two places in Creative Planning Chief Market Strategist Charlie Bilello’s comparison of major assets for 2026, with both down more than 7%.

Bilello put gold’s year-to-date loss at 7.5% and Bitcoin’s at 7.3%. Gold trailed Bitcoin by 0.2 percentage point in his ranking.

Bilello described their pairing at the bottom as a first across the calendar years he has compared. The figures reflect performance so far in 2026, rather than returns for the completed year.
