Grayscale Investments has partnered with Republic to expand access to cryptocurrency investment funds, allowing eligible investors to gain exposure to decentralized finance (DeFi), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain data networks with a minimum investment of $2,500.

The partnership, announced on October 15, introduces three Grayscale investment products through Republic's platform: the Grayscale DeFi Fund, Grayscale Decentralized AI Fund, and Grayscale Data Network Trust.

The agreement aims to make specialized crypto investment opportunities more accessible to qualified investors without requiring them to purchase, manage, or store digital assets directly.

Republic co-CEO Andrew Durgee highlighted the partnership's potential to provide access to investment products traditionally associated with institutional investors. Eligible participants can enter these funds with a minimum commitment of just $2,500.

The Grayscale DeFi Fund (DEFG) provides exposure to six cryptocurrencies associated with decentralized financial services. Its portfolio includes Uniswap (UNI), Aave (AAVE), Ondo (ONDO), Ethena (ENA), Curve DAO (CRV), and Lido DAO (LDO), representing blockchain-based trading, lending, and staking applications.

Meanwhile, the Grayscale Decentralized AI Fund focuses on cryptocurrencies supporting artificial intelligence infrastructure and decentralized computing. Its holdings include NEAR Protocol (NEAR), Bittensor (TAO), Render (RENDER), and Filecoin (FIL).

The third offering, Grayscale Data Network Trust, provides exposure to DATA, the native cryptocurrency of DATA Network. The blockchain supports data ownership verification, licensing agreements, and payments related to information used for training AI models.

Despite the relatively low investment threshold, the three products are exclusively available to qualified investors. U.S. participants must satisfy accredited investor requirements based on income, net worth, or eligible professional qualifications.

Unlike conventional cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), these offerings are private placements and cannot be traded on public stock exchanges. Grayscale cautions that investors face liquidity restrictions and could lose their entire investment.

The partnership comes as institutional interest in regulated digital asset investment products continues to develop. Franklin Templeton recently engaged with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regarding rules governing cryptocurrency investment funds under the Investment Company Act.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong's second spot Solana ETF recently entered the market with a 0.6% management fee, reflecting expanding cryptocurrency investment options across global financial markets.

Grayscale's latest agreement with Republic underscores growing efforts to connect traditional investment platforms with emerging blockchain sectors, particularly DeFi, decentralized AI, and data infrastructure.
