Group14 Technologies has added a planned 10 GWh battery-materials operation in Spain to its expansion program after closing a €150 million Series D extension, giving the company a proposed production base near European manufacturers.
Group14 announced the financing Oct. 29 and valued the extension at about $169 million. It said the backing came from a new investor but did not identify it, and put the expanded Series D above $665 million. That total is higher than the sum of the separately disclosed amounts: the $463 million round Group14 announced in August 2025, led by SK Inc., plus about $169 million from the latest extension, or roughly $632 million. The announcements do not explain the difference. Group14 also said in 2025 that cumulative equity raised had passed $1 billion.
Group14 calls the Spanish project BAM-4 and says its initial planned capacity is 10 GWh. The company says the site will expand output of SCC55, its silicon battery material, into Europe. It cites proximity to European original equipment manufacturers and support for regional supply chains as reasons for choosing the location.
Group14’s 40 GWh plan spans three sites. BAM-3 in Sangju, South Korea, contributes 10 GWh and is operating as it scales; two BAM-2 modules in Moses Lake, Washington, together represent 20 GWh, with the proposed Sagunto facility accounting for the final 10 GWh.
Group14 expects both Moses Lake modules to start production during 2027. GeekWire reported that CEO Rick Luebbe placed the first module’s start around mid-2027, after installation and commissioning, and said the company had no firm completion date for the second. GeekWire also reported that BAM-4 production is targeted for mid-2029; Group14 has not announced a production date for the Spanish plant.
