Santa Monica, CA, April 16, 2018 --
Guardian Circle, the first global, decentralized emergency response system, is pleased to announce it has been named as a finalist in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards in the apps category. Now in its second year, the World Changing Ideas Awards drew nearly 1,400 submissions across 12 categories, where Guardian Circle was selected for its work to elevate social good and help shift society to a more sustainable and more equitable future.
Guardian Circle is the first emergency response system that acts as an AMBER Alert-style warning for your own private network. This free mobile app alerts your designated circle of trusted friends, family and neighbors if you’re in an emergency situation or urgently need help. The app has four different alert levels: Emergency, Urgent, Request and Only A Test, so your guardians know the severity of your request, can communicate with one another on a shared map in a text messaging room, and organize a response team, dispatching help closest to your emergency. These guardians are then rewarded in cryptocurrency with Guardium, a new token. Tokens can be redeemed for more services or sold for fiat currency within the platform. All transactions are recorded using blockchain-based smart contracts.
Use cases of Guardian Circle:
- Women who find themselves threatened physically and need immediate help.
- Families looking to remain in contact with elderly members, who may fall ill.
- Parents of young children who have gone missing.
- Residents near the latest life threatening wildfires or floods.
- Residents of India, who currently do not have ANY type of emergency response system.
“The emergency response system used by governments today is broken so it’s up to the private sector to fix it,” said Mark Jeffrey, Co-founder and CEO of Guardian Circle. “Our mission is to offer a fully reimagined 9-1-1 alert system to support the six billion people worldwide and in developing countries, who have no emergency services at all. We are truly honored to be recognized for this prestigious award, addressing the issues of lawlessness and safety around the globe.”
