One government official told NDTV Profit that India is targeting more than ₹15,000 crore (₹150 billion) in land monetisation through NLMC in fiscal 2026-27, with assets belonging to MTNL, BSNL, RINL, ITI Limited and HIL (India) Limited among the potential contributors. The outlet also reported an additional MTNL property target of ₹4,000 crore to ₹5,000 crore over the next two years.
The Finance Ministry’s public disclosures show asset proposals and auctions moving ahead, but the releases reviewed do not state the reported ₹15,000-crore FY27 target. In September, the ministry said NLMC’s board had recommended monetisation proposals involving assets valued at more than ₹5,000 crore.
One confirmed sale process involves a 5.119-acre HIL parcel in New Delhi, offered for outright sale with a reserve price of ₹829.69 crore. Registration and technical bids are due Nov. 19, 2026; the official notice says the auction date will be announced after technical bids are opened.
NLMC also lists valuation procurements for MTNL properties, including sites in New Delhi, but the notices do not disclose how much those properties might raise or when they could be sold.
MTNL’s latest filing helps clarify the debt figure cited in the report. As of Sept. 30, 2026, the company reported ₹9,732 crore in bank and financial-institution borrowings, alongside total financial indebtedness of ₹37,553 crore. The reported “around ₹10,000 crore” figure appears to refer to the former; NDTV Profit did not specify the category.
