Lagos Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat made public accountability a central feature of his 100-point platform, saying residents would be able to track his pledges against published baselines if he wins the governorship in 2027. At Friday’s launch in Iganmu, he said 87 commitments fell within the state government’s powers, while 13 aspirations would require cooperation with other authorities.
Among the proposals for his first 100 days in office, Hamzat said he would send the Lagos State House of Assembly a bill to establish a Child Protection and Nutrition Agency. He said the agency’s purpose would be to help children under 18 remain in school or vocational training and have enough to eat. He also proposed a Service Delivery Office, established by executive order and tasked with publishing baseline indicators.
The third proposal is a state wealth fund with an independent board and published accounts, intended to preserve resources for future generations. Hamzat had also proposed a fund at a Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry event earlier in October, TheCable reported. The launch reports do not detail its initial capital or investment rules.
The platform also includes a target to raise waste-collection coverage to 95% and a pledge to expand maternal and child centers to 15. Reports differ on the current number of those centers: Premium Times gives six, while P.M. News and TVC give 10.
Hamzat said the proposed service charters would set deadlines for government offices to acknowledge complaints within 48 hours, answer within seven days and resolve them within 30 days.
