White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said inflation should cool but gave no estimate or timetable, leaving the expected slowdown’s scale and timing unspecified.
He also said he would respect the judgment of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh and the Federal Reserve.
Hassett’s remarks follow his September comments on inflation, when he said a new reading had made the recent price trend harder to assess and that the Fed should keep monitoring household spending.
