Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. plans to move its shares from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq, where it expects trading to start Nov. 5 under the same HLT ticker.
Nasdaq has approved the shares for its Global Select Market, Hilton said in an Oct. 20 securities filing. Hilton’s board authorized the transfer, and the company notified the NYSE that day. Shareholders need take no action.
Hilton President and CEO Chris Nassetta said Nasdaq fits the company’s growth ambitions. Hilton said the move will leave its business strategy and priorities for using capital unchanged.
The company returned to the NYSE in 2013 after private ownership by Blackstone Inc. Hilton says its earlier listing began in 1946, when it became the first hotel company on the exchange.
Hilton expects its shares to trade on the NYSE through the Nov. 4 market close, with Nasdaq trading set to begin Nov. 5.
