India’s embassy in Yemen said it was checking reports about 14 nationals aboard a yacht after Houthi officials accused Saudi forces of targeting the vessel near Zuqar Island on Oct. 22.

The Yemen News Agency (SABA) reported that Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree alleged Saudi forces targeted the yacht. SABA said a rescue effort was underway.

A later statement by the Houthi-run Foreign Ministry, also reported by SABA, alleged Indian casualties. It said Yemeni forces rescued “those they could from among the victims,” but gave no number for casualties or people rescued.

The Embassy of India in Yemen said it was “ascertaining further details” and would provide help to ensure the nationals’ safety. Its statement referred to reports of an incident and did not confirm the alleged strike or rescue.

Separately, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said one Indian national died and two others were injured in the Oct. 21 attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. The ministry said another Indian was injured in a separate attack on Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oil field.
