At the Oct. 20 Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company invested nearly $1 billion in Germany over the previous year.

He described Nvidia as a major venture investor in Germany and cited the country’s science and mathematics base and entrepreneurial activity. Huang estimated that artificial intelligence (AI) firms made up about half of the companies established in Germany over the previous two years. He urged other investors to move quickly in AI, suggesting Nvidia might reach promising companies before they do.

An earlier EconoTimes report on Nvidia’s proposed German investments named Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace as potential recipients. It described the plans as part of a European commitment nearing $10 billion and did not list an amount for any startup.

A separate declaration involving Nvidia and German ministries concerns industrial AI development, as an earlier EconoTimes report noted. Huang is scheduled to give a keynote at Nvidia’s GTC Berlin conference on Oct. 21; the event runs Oct. 20-22.
