Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jan. 16, 2018 --
The Lake States Acquisition Team announced an opportunity to conduct work on the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Michigan. The government contract for one base year covers approximately two-hundred acres, but may increase to up to three years and a possible four-hundred acres depending on circumstances. It is an opportunity reserved for a small business and the deadline to submit all required materials and a pricing offer is February 16, 2018.
The goal of the work is to improve openings at two different locations: one-hundred acres in the Mio District and one-hundred acres in the Huron Shores District. The contractor will be required to use equipment such as a hydro-ax, masticator, brush-hog, chainsaw or other mechanical means to control encroachment of woody vegetation at the forest openings. Complete details for the solicitation can be found on the website where the government posts federal business opportunities, FBO.gov.
Government contracts are determined by a combination of the lowest price technically acceptable and non-pricing factors such as technical capability, past performance, safety and sustainability practices, and proper registration in government systems. Two important registrations for this solicitation are the System for Award Management (SAM) and the Invoice Processing Platform (IPP).
US Federal Contractor Registration (USFCR), the world’s largest third-party government registration firm, assists companies who would like to submit bids to the government. USFCR’s expert case managers register companies in SAM and train them for government invoicing systems. USFCR’s Advanced Procurement Portal provides businesses powerful search tools of government databases, data management, and step-by-step training to submit competitive bids. Small businesses fulfill a significant portion of the government’s needs, but often lack the resources and time to expand into the federal sector. US Federal Contractor Registration is a reliable source for those small to medium size businesses.
