IMAX Corporation posted a record $712 million in third-quarter box office, up 94% year over year, as revenue climbed 64% to $175 million across its cinema network.

Revenue reached $175 million, while gross margin rose 88% to $126 million. Net income attributable to common shareholders was $113.8 million, compared with $20.7 million a year earlier. That income included a $36.7 million release of a valuation allowance on Canadian federal and provincial deferred-tax assets expected to be used in future years. The release added 63 cents per diluted share.

The box-office total was 94% higher than a year earlier and surpassed IMAX’s previous quarterly record of $372 million. IMAX said it accounted for 6.7% of global box office during the quarter while operating on fewer than 1% of screens worldwide.

Content Solutions revenue was $94 million, a 110% increase from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue from Technology Products and Services rose 28% to $77.3 million, with IMAX citing higher rental income tied to box-office growth and contract amendments and renewals that outweighed fewer system installations under sales arrangements.

Among the films cited in the results, The Odyssey generated $538 million in IMAX box office and Spider-Man: Brand New Day brought in $58 million. IMAX highlighted Dune: Part Three, due in December 2026, and the Chinese release of Avengers: Doomsday as films it expects to carry momentum into 2027.

The company filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Nov. 5. The filing lists Item 2.02, “Results of Operations and Financial Condition,” and Item 9.01, “Financial Statements and Exhibits”; the earnings release is Exhibit 99.1.

IMAX said it expects to provide quarter-to-date box-office updates within five business days after month-end, while noting that the timing may change.
