RALEIGH, N.C., May 04, 2017 -- INC Research Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:INCR), a leading, global Phase I to IV contract research organization, today announced it has been named to the 2017 CSO50 by IDG’s CSO magazine. The annual CSO50 Awards recognize organizations (and the people within them) for security projects or initiatives that demonstrate outstanding business value and thought leadership. INC was recognized for an innovative and efficient cyber security training program used Companywide to ensure employees worldwide have the knowledge and tools necessary to protect sensitive data. 2017 is the second consecutive year INC has been named to the CSO50. The Company accepted the award at the CSO50 Awards gala May 3 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“We are honored to have been recognized once again for our global cyber security training program for employees,” says Jonathan Shough, Chief Information Officer at INC Research. “Cyber security and data integrity is critical to the success of any CRO and every clinical trial. We are dedicated to ensuring customer data and projects are protected by investing the resources necessary to ensure we have an educated workforce relative to cyber security threats. Being the ‘CRO of Choice’ is a matter of trust – customers trust us with their project data so we must do everything possible to protect its integrity.”
INC’s program is focused on reaching out to employees on a regular basis with simple, easy-to-understand messages on security protocols and best practices. Whereas the industry standard is one hour of classroom or virtual training each year, the Company found that frequency of security communications was much more important than the length of training. INC’s program includes two 15-minute trainings per year plus regular contacts with employees regarding cyber security via the Company’s intranet, email, quarterly two-minute informational videos and more. The result has been increased awareness of security issues with a reduction in classroom time, resulting in increased productivity and efficiency.
“The stakes have never been higher when it comes to protecting an organization's sensitive data from criminals and breach," said Joan Goodchild, editor-in-chief of CSO. "Security leaders are expected to not only deliver protection, but also to drive business initiatives. Our annual CSO50 awards recognize security projects that enhance defense and also deliver ROI.”
CSO provides news, analysis and research on a broad range of security and risk management topics. Areas of focus include information security, physical security, business continuity, identity and access management, loss prevention and more. Publishers of CSO magazine work with judges, including security experts, academics and CSOs to review nominations and select 50 organizations/projects to recognize each year. 2017 is the fifth year publishing the list. Honorees are invited to present their projects at the annual CSO conference, which concludes with a formal awards dinner and celebration.
