Ignitis Group said Friday its 173.6-megawatt Tume solar project in Latvia has entered commercial service, taking the company’s Green Capacities total to 2.3 gigawatts, up from 2.1 gigawatts.
The project occupies 302 hectares and has more than 282,000 solar panels. Ignitis estimates the farm’s output will match the electricity use of about 85,000 households. The company expects the project to expand Latvia’s renewable electricity supply and support energy security across the region. It puts investment in the solar farm at up to €106 million.
Ignitis Renewables, a subsidiary of the group, is developing a battery system rated at 107.2 megawatts and 214.5 megawatt-hours. The system remains under construction and is planned for integration with the solar farm. Ignitis says storage is intended to help the project operate more flexibly and efficiently.
Ignitis Group said the Tume milestone does not change its 2026 Adjusted EBITDA and Investments guidance.
