IndiGo is seeking more revenue beyond ticket fares as passenger numbers declined and fuel costs rose, with Chief Executive Willie Walsh saying ancillary revenue per passenger was about Rs 590.

Walsh gave the figure on an Oct. 29 earnings call, referring to the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, or Q2 FY27. He put the previous quarter’s figure at about Rs 525. Walsh estimated that Ryanair’s ancillary revenue per passenger was five to six times IndiGo’s, saying differences in the services included in fares in India and Europe accounted for much of the gap.

IndiGo BluChip was nearing 20 million members and had more than 30 partners, Walsh said. He said building regular flying and point use among those members would take time. IndiGo’s FAQ says members can earn points on eligible flights and select add-ons, and redeem them for IndiGo flights.

Walsh also pointed to the premium offer as a potential source of growth. He said early results were encouraging, including on international routes, although the product contributed little to Q2 revenue.

InterGlobe Aviation’s Oct. 29 results release reported total ancillary revenue of Rs 24.809 billion, up 15.9% year over year, and passenger-ticket revenue of Rs 206.522 billion, up 29.3%. Revenue from operations rose 25.9% to Rs 233.638 billion. These company-reported totals are separate from Walsh’s per-passenger figure.

The release showed passenger numbers down 4.7% year over year to 27.5 million and fuel costs up 67.2% to Rs 99.668 billion. Those operating metrics include non-scheduled operations. The consolidated net loss narrowed to Rs 18.791 billion from Rs 25.821 billion a year earlier.

For Q3 FY27, IndiGo forecast capacity growth in the early single digits year over year. Walsh gave no numerical target or timetable for growth in ancillary, premium or loyalty revenue.
