Deutsche Welle (DW) reported Monday that India’s BJP plans a nationwide protest after Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made a remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father, drawing criticism online.

DW said the demonstration is planned for Monday, Oct. 26, and will include burning an effigy. The outlet reported that politicians from both sides have criticized one another on social media. BJP social media accounts said Kharge “appears to have lost all sense of decorum,” DW reported.

DW described the BJP as the ruling party and Congress as India’s largest opposition party. It said Kharge made the personal remark after an audience member spoke at an event.

The exchange at the Patna event was the subject of an earlier EconoTimes story. DW’s report said the nationwide protest was planned for Monday, Oct. 26.
