Indonesian police said Tuesday they arrested three people in an investigation into alleged phone interception involving President Prabowo Subianto and other prominent figures, an inquiry that extends beyond the head of state.

The suspects were publicly identified only as LSP, ASN and EH. Asep Safrudin, the national police’s top detective, provided the initials and said the three were under investigation.

Safrudin said officers were examining allegations that a telephone number belonging to the president and numbers associated with other prominent people had been intercepted.
