During the weekend of 4/20, the Church, whose members have been renovating the 113-year-old building in the West Washington Park neighborhood since July 2016, will be throwing open their doors and welcoming the curious inside to see their chapel and potentially join their congregation.
The chapel ceiling has been lovingly painted by renowned church artist Okuda San Miguel, creating an uplifting and elevating space for the congregation to partake of their sacrament, and take quiet meditation. Additionally, the front of the church has been painted by world famous artist Kenny Scharf, whose work is amongst the permanent collections of both the Whitney and Guggenheim Museums in New York City.
“We were so happy to find a space that already had a spiritual history, and to be able to retain that element in the use of the property,” said Briley Hale, Spokesperson for the International Church of Cannabis. “It’s a great privilege to be able to turn this building around, rather than watching it being converted into condos or left abandoned to attract vagrancy and crime.”
The Church will be hosting an education and elevation seminar during the weekend, called Elevate 2017. The weekend features educational panels hosted by NPR 1’s Roben Farzad, discussing relevant topics, along with some appropriately cannabis-themed entertainment.
Elevation Ministries has hired Bang Digital Media (OTCQB:BXNG) to launch and manage all of the social media and online marketing for the International Church of Cannabis. Bang will also be running and managing the Church’s Indiegogo campaign.
“We are thrilled to be exclusively introducing this incredible story to the world,” said Steve Berke, CEO of Bang Digital Media. “This church is the first large venue in the world where adults can legally consume cannabis in a social environment. It is truly history in the making.”
About Elevation Ministries
Elevation Ministries created The International Church of Cannabis to be a spiritual home to adults who seek to become the best version of themselves by way of the cannabis flower - a sacrament regarded as a gift from the universal creative force.
Church members are called Elevationists. Our lifestance is that an individual’s spiritual journey, and search for meaning, is one of self-discovery - and one that may be accelerated and deepened with cannabis use.
Elevationists claim no divine authority, nor an authoritarian organizational structure. Therefore, those of all religious and cultural backgrounds are welcome to visit our chapel and take part in our volunteerism, celebrations, and meditation.
