Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Tuesday, Nov. 3, that no new development had emerged toward a possible U.S. agreement, as Qatar reported that proposals remained under review.
Anadolu reported Baqaei’s remarks to Iranian state television, while Iran International reported that exchanges through mediators were continuing. Baqaei said past experiences left him doubtful of Washington’s commitment to diplomacy. “Previous experiences block any optimism about America's seriousness in diplomacy,” he said, Anadolu reported, adding that Iran’s readiness to defend itself was at its highest level.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said mediators were exchanging proposals in real time and both governments were reviewing them, Qatar News Agency reported. A Qatari delegation met counterparts in Tehran on Monday and returned to Doha that evening. The visit followed Qatar’s earlier mediation efforts in Tehran, EconoTimes reported.
Al Ansari said Qatar-Pakistan mediation remained a priority, but he could not announce a specific breakthrough. He described the effort as a “glimmer of hope” and said regional escalation could affect negotiations and serve no party’s interests.
