Iran’s supreme leader’s representative, Abdul Majid Hakeem Elahi, said Washington had failed to meet its aims in Iran and called the United States “the weakest country” at a summit Friday.

The summit program lists Elahi as a senior Iranian diplomat who represents Iran’s supreme leader. NDTV’s recording of the Oct. 23 session shows him accusing Washington of seeking to unseat Iran’s government, fragment the country into five countries and control its oil. He also alleged that U.S. officials had promised other countries a three-day timetable.

In a Feb. 28 address, U.S. President Donald Trump said the military operation was meant “to defend the American people” from threats by Iran’s government. He said U.S. forces would destroy Iran’s missiles and the industry that produces them, as well as its navy. Trump also urged Iranians to take control of their government.

The address did not mention dividing Iran into five countries, taking control of its oil or a three-day deadline. Elahi’s accusations were made in remarks recorded by NDTV at the summit.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the United States and Israel struck targets in Iran on Feb. 28 and that the United Kingdom took no part in the strikes.
