Local sources said Israeli forces closed the entrance to a school in Al-Mughayyir and detained a teacher during a Nov. 4 raid, while students inhaled tear gas fired toward the building.

Palestinian news agency WAFA and Anadolu Agency carried the accounts, each citing local sources. The incident follows earlier reporting on tear gas at an Al-Mughayyir school published Nov. 2.

In its September humanitarian situation report, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the Education Cluster documented 224 education-related incidents affecting 152 schools in the first half of 2026. The incidents directly affected 20,450 students and 859 education personnel, the report said.

OCHA said West Bank education access was affected by Israeli forces’ operations, settler violence and movement or access restrictions. Settler violence was involved in 47 incidents, or 21% of the total, compared with 3% in the same period of 2025 and 5% in 2024, according to OCHA.
