Israeli police arrested a Jerusalem man in his 20s after a knife was found near opposition leader Yair Golan at a Tel Aviv campaign appearance, and said no stabbing attempt took place.
The Democrats said the man moved toward Golan during an event at Mesila Park. The party said Golan’s security personnel intervened, a knife dropped during the encounter and guards held the man until police arrived.
Police said officers noticed an item beneath the man’s coat and searched him. They found a knife, took him for questioning and are continuing the investigation.
