The 19th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum opened in Istanbul on Thursday, bringing officials and business figures together to examine how economic and geopolitical shifts are influencing decisions across the region.
Organizers gave the two-day meeting the theme “Challenges of a Changing World and a Changing Economy.” The program schedules sessions from Oct. 22 through Oct. 23 on energy, changes in Europe, Asia and the world, the real economy and transportation. Another session considers how technological advances and geopolitical tensions affect finance worldwide.
Anadolu Agency (AA) also highlighted discussion of Türkiye’s place in the global economy, energy, financial markets and relations between the United States and Eurasia. The agency described the gathering’s broad focus as changes to the global economy and geopolitical landscape.
Some program topics are framed as questions. The agenda asks who gains or loses influence during reindustrialization and whether a possible AI bubble resembles the dot-com era. It also examines how considerations beyond economics can shape energy-sector decisions. These are subjects for discussion, not established findings.
AA reported that attendees came from more than 30 countries, including officials, diplomats, academics and business figures. The opening lineup included Türkiye’s Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek; Kirill Komarov, first deputy director of Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom; Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko; and Antonio Fallico, head of Conoscere Eurasia Association.
The forum is scheduled to conclude Friday, Oct. 23, according to its published program.
