Jack Henry plans to connect its banking platform to Google Cloud Universal Ledger, giving banks and credit unions a potential route to offer tokenized deposits and explore new transaction uses.

Jack Henry said Friday, Oct. 16, that the planned connection would make it the first core banking technology provider to link with Universal Ledger. The company describes the planned service as a way for institutions to issue and transfer digital representations of money and other assets, with settlement rules that can run at any hour.

Google Cloud’s documentation says financial institutions can use an application programming interface (API) to build Universal Ledger networks and manage tokenized assets, including commercial bank money. The service is listed as Preview under pre-general availability terms, and institutions must request access. Google identifies wholesale payments and tokenized securities as possible uses.

Jack Henry says the connection could support payments at any time and automate transaction workflows and settlement, including multilateral netting without requiring participants to fund accounts in advance. The company presents those features as a way for community and regional institutions to retain deposits and add digital services while competing with larger banks and fintech firms.

“Tokenized deposits have the potential to reshape how money moves across the financial ecosystem,” Jack Henry Chief Technology Officer Ben Metz said.

Jack Henry did not name a bank or credit union preparing to use the integration, report results from a live deployment or give a launch date. Google’s documentation describes Universal Ledger as a Preview service available by request.

The companies began their strategic relationship in 2022, when Google Cloud agreed to support Jack Henry’s cloud-first technology strategy. On June 25, 2026, they announced a separate collaboration on AI-driven security capabilities for banks and credit unions.
