The Independent reported that Republican candidate Joe Mitchell created a new honor for President Donald Trump and presented it at a Sioux City rally in Iowa after Trump’s latest Nobel Peace Prize complaint.
Mitchell named it the “Man of the Century Award,” the outlet reported, and told Trump the Nobel snub was “a disgrace.” The Independent said Mitchell, 29, is running against Democrat Lindsay James for Iowa’s 2nd congressional district, a race it described as tight. Mitchell also credited Trump with keeping the country safer than any previous president, the outlet reported.
Trump accepted the certificate, shook hands with Mitchell and handed it to an aide nearby, The Independent reported.
Trump complained the previous day at a rally in Greenville, South Carolina, that he had been passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize, according to the outlet. The Independent compared Mitchell’s award with the FIFA Peace Prize presented to Trump by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in December, which it said was similarly intended to address his disappointment over the Nobel snub.
