KFC, or Kentucky Fried Chicken, is entering the pizza market in the United States with the release of its newest menu item. This comes as the restaurant finally brings the famous Fried Chicken Pizza to the region.
Some people often have difficulty choosing between pizza and fried chicken when they dine outside their homes, but now KFC offers a solution by adding "Chizza" to its menu in U.S. stores.
Flavorful Pizza and Chicken in One
As mentioned on Delish, the new food item is a genius creation that allows people to have chicken and pizza that they love. Chizza is made with crispy fried chicken fillet as the base, and various pizza toppings - marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni - are added to complete the hybrid menu.
Customers of KFC in the U.S. are now excited for the arrival of Chizza this month. The new product has received good reviews, with one customer describing it as "the things dreams are made of."
Launch of Chizza in U.S.
Parade reported that the new fried chicken and pizza menu originally debuted in the Philippines in 2015. Since then, it has been launched in other parts of the world over the past several years; thus, it has a presence in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Germany, Mexico, and Spain. Now, it is finally coming to the U.S., too.
KFC is debuting Chizza in the country on Feb. 26, and it will be on the menu for a limited time. Customers may order the new item a la carte or a combo meal with KFC's signature fries and a medium drink.
World's First Chizzeria Pop-Up Store
KFC is marking the launch of Chizza in the U.S. by opening the first "KFC Chizzeria" pop-up store. The fast-food chain is temporarily converting its store at 242 E 14th St. in New York City into a pop-up offering free Chizza before the official launch.
Customers may drop by the store, designed to look like a pizzeria, starting Friday, Feb. 23, to Saturday, Feb. 24, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET. Chizza will be available to everyone on the 26th in most KFC stores nationwide.
"Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better – the Chizza," KFC US' chief marketing officer, Nick Chavez, said in a press release. "The fan-favorite mashup is finally available in the U.S. after making its way around the world – try it while you can!"
