South Korea’s benchmark KOSPI fell below 5,600 on Monday as a 3.17% intraday decline coincided with losses in SK hynix and Samsung, showing pressure across the country’s stock market.
The index moved under 5,600 during the opening stretch of trading. The 3.17% figure was recorded before the session ended; no closing result was reported. SK hynix shares declined 4%, compared with a 3% drop for Samsung. That left SK hynix down one percentage point more than Samsung among the two named chipmakers.
The figures cover different measures: a broad market index and shares in two individual companies. On Oct. 15, the KOSPI opened down 5.59%, fell more than 8% intraday and prompted a trading halt before trading resumed. It closed at 5,554.22, down 7.5% for the session, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the halt and close.
