Kalshi's $1 billion funding gives the U.S. prediction-market operator resources to broaden its business, while its disclosed account base and trading pace offer scale indicators for a company valued at $40 billion.

Kalshi announced the Series G financing Oct. 29. Wellington Management and Sequoia Capital shared lead roles. a16z, Coatue, CapitalG and Morgan Stanley Investment Management also participated.

The company has cited a total of more than 30 million accounts created and trading volume running at a yearly pace above $1 trillion on an annualized basis.

Kalshi said it plans to put funding toward its institutional business and international growth. Its product roadmap includes markets connected to stock indexes, perpetual contracts tied to individual shares and offerings related to computing capacity.

In a blog post about the financing, Kalshi described prediction markets as a starting point for a broader exchange. EconoTimes previously covered the funding round and product expansion plans.
