Why a Physical Write Protect Switch?
Write protecting a drive protects files stored within from corruption, infection, unauthorized changes and accidental deletion on any computer. With a physical write protect switch, the drive can be easily switched back and forth to a “Read Only” mode, making the drive safe to use on any computer that could potentially have a virus. Typical software write-protection tools merely enable write protection by making changes to the operating system registry; changes which can be undone by malware. The Kanguru UltraLock’s write protection switch disables write capability at the hardware level, making the drive impervious to malware and/or viruses being copied to it.
“Considering the myriad of benefits to a physical write protect switch, it is surprising that outside of a handful of flash drives, there are practically no external drives on the market that include one,” states Ken Lee, Product Manager at Kanguru. “Write protecting a drive protects the files stored within from corruption, infection, unauthorized changes and accidental deletion on any computer.”
An Ideal Hard Drive for Government and Mobile Users
The Kanguru UltraLock with physical write protect switch and TAA Compliance is a perfect data storage solution for government and mobile users accessing multiple installations. By locking the drive, files can be read from the drive without the risk of contracting a virus or malware from the host computer, and it prevents the danger of overwriting important files.
The Kanguru UltraLock is available as a Hard Drive model with capacities of 500GB, 1T, 2T and 4T starting at around $89. The Solid State model is available in 240GB, 480GB and 1T and retails starting at $199.
Kanguru is a global leader in manufacturing highly-certified data storage products, providing the very best in FIPS 140-2 and Common Criteria Certified, hardware encrypted, secure USB drives fully-integrated remote management security applications and Endpoint Security. Kanguru also manufactures duplication equipment for cloning hard drives, SSDs, Blu-ray, DVD discs and more. For more information on Kanguru, please visit kanguru.com.
