Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, a leader of Kano State’s Hisbah Board, reportedly said he would not campaign for politicians in Nigeria’s 2027 elections, amid reports naming him to an All Progressives Congress (APC) panel.

Daily Post and Premium Times reported that the statement appeared in a Hausa-language Facebook post on Oct. 24. The original post was unavailable for review, leaving its wording and reported date unverified. The Kano State Government identifies Daurawa as the board’s Commander-General.

Trust Radio reported that Daurawa’s name appeared on the Kano APC’s Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Advisory Committee alongside Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan. Trust Radio said Kano APC Chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa released the list, citing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. Daily Post and Premium Times said Daurawa did not directly address the reported inclusion. The original list was unavailable for review, so his reported inclusion remains unverified.

Premium Times described the advisory body as a 155-member council chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, overseeing a separate operational campaign directorate. The outlet said the directorate’s membership would be announced later, without giving a date.
