FBI Director Kash Patel drew online criticism after posting a Russia-themed response to an erroneous report about his whereabouts, which MS NOW later corrected and apologized for, The Independent reported.
MS NOW's Wednesday report cited two sources it did not identify and said Patel had arrived in Russia for a two-day meeting spanning Moscow and St. Petersburg, The Independent reported. At the time, Patel was speaking in Lynchburg, Virginia, at a campus event recognizing law-enforcement workers, according to the same account. The network later acknowledged the error on air and apologized.
Patel wrote on X, “From Russia, with Love,” playing on the 1963 James Bond film From Russia with Love. The Independent reported that former White House official Miles Taylor responded on X: “We don’t have to look very hard for the collusion anymore.” Chef José Andrés also criticized Patel’s post, while his World Central Kitchen nonprofit has aided Ukraine during the war. The outlet said the timing drew objections against the backdrop of Russia’s continuing war on Ukraine.
The story also came amid questions over missile warnings and intelligence sharing. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that Ukraine had not received the advance notice it typically gets from Western partners before Russian ballistic missile attacks. He did not name those partners. President Donald Trump said the U.S. had not stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine, The Independent reported.
According to The Independent, CBS News reported that the U.S. may have deliberately held back early alerts before Russian strikes that killed six people and left about 600,000 without power. The outlet reported that Ukraine briefly paused its drone attacks after Trump announced an energy ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine, while Russian strikes continued.
